The library has eight computers with Internet access and access to black-and-white and color printing. A scanner is also available. Bring your library card to the circulation desk and check out a computer card to use one of the computers for up to an hour. At the end of the hour, come to the circulation desk to extend your session, as long as no one else is waiting to use that computer. At the end of your session, return the computer card to the desk.
In compliance with the Children's Internet Protection Act (Public Law 106-554), a filtering mechanism is installed on all Berks County Public Library public access computers to protect young users from inappropriate material. The filter will not be removed for anyone under the age of 17.
Parents are reminded that filtering is not foolproof. Parental supervision of young children searching the Internet is encouraged.
A card catalog computer is also available for use by the public. You can look up items held in any Berks County library.
The Early Literacy Station child-friendly PC provides educational software that spans seven curricular areas, targeted for toddlers through second grade. Little or no adult intervention is required.
Library staff can help you at the computer if desired and the library offers computer classes.
Public wireless access is also available at the library so you can bring your own laptop and access the Internet.
Fees are charged for printing, photocopying and faxing at the library. Scanning and computer usage are free.
